Welcome to Little Shanti Gifts

Devina Sankhla - Founder & CRPS Sufferer

Welcome! I’m Devina, and I have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), a chronic condition characterised by debilitating pain.

Suffering with chronic pain and fluctuating mobility issues has been life changing. As my condition has no cure, I became interested in ways to support my pain management, mental health and wellbeing.

I find peace and happiness connecting with nature, especially by water. When my mobility allows me to, I always seek new places where I can immerse myself in nature. At other times when I am unable to be outdoors, I bring nature to me via photos, objects and scents. I love that I’ve been able to incorporate all of this into Little Shanti Gifts!

Dr. Deepak Shantilal Sankhla - Co Founder & Clinical Psychologist

Hello! I’m Deepak, a Clinical Psychologist and Devina’s husband! In addition to being a co-founder of Little Shanti Gifts, I have my private psychology practice called the Shanti Psychology Service. I specialise in working with people that suffer from symptoms of psychological trauma, including painful emotions.

I’m so excited to be able to infuse my knowledge of psychological therapies into the creation of our Little Shanti Gifts! I’ve seen the benefits of the use of nature-based mindfulness and relaxation tools with my clients, as well as my wife, and I’m pleased to be able to share these to support your self-care journey.

Why the name 'Little Shanti Gifts'?

In the ancient Hindu language Sanskrit, ‘shanti’ means ‘peace’ or ‘tranquillity’. ‘Shanti’ is often chanted three times in mindfulness practices as ‘om shanti, shanti,
shanti’ to represent peace and tranquillity in the body, mind and emotions. ‘Om shanti’ is also a common greeting in Hinduism that is translated as ‘peace be with you’.

Co-founder of Little Shanti Gifts, Dr. Deepak Shantilal Sankhla, has grown up with ‘shanti’ via his father Shantilal. Shantilal’s name meaning is ‘one who is peaceful’ and Deepak is proud to have his father’s name as his middle name. ‘Shanti’ is also incorporated into Deepak’s private psychology practice, which is called ‘Shanti Psychology Service’.

‘Shanti’ has such a positive meaning for us and is part of our lives in many ways. We couldn’t think of a better name for our business, as we want to bring you little gifts that help bring ‘shanti’ to your day.
